Louis Hernando Reyes, 23, was last seen on November 10, 1989, at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center in Wingdale, New York. Louis, who had a mental disability and was receiving voluntary treatment at the facility, disappeared from the center in the early evening. Staff members noticed he was missing around 7:00 p.m., two hours after he had last been seen.
Louis had a history of wandering around the facility and had previously been found disoriented in a nearby parking lot, wearing other patients' clothes just ten days prior to his disappearance.
At the time of his disappearance, Louis was wearing blue jeans and a blue or gray sweatshirt. He had distinctive features, including a discolored capped front tooth, a bump on his right eyebrow, and a triangular scar on his left shoulder. Despite extensive searches and leads that extended to areas as far as Connecticut and New York City, Louis was never found. The psychiatric center closed in 1994, but the investigation into his disappearance remains open.
