In the summer of 1994, a 40-year-old man named Joseph Consentino vanished from the Bronx, New York, leaving behind a life that appeared to be stable and content. On July 17th, he was last seen at 2441 Yates Avenue at approximately 11:00 p.m. Earlier that day, Consentino, a firefighter who also ran a Snapple distribution business, had enjoyed a picnic in upstate New York with his wife, with whom he was expecting a child. Upon their return home, his beeper went off. After making a phone call, he informed his wife he needed to meet someone regarding a Snapple delivery, a request that wasn't out of the ordinary for his line of work. After walking their dog together, he departed and was never heard from again. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as a white male with brown hair and hazel eyes, standing at 6 feet tall and weighing around 200 pounds. He had a stocky build, a light complexion, and a scar on his face. He may have also had a mustache. He was last seen wearing a blue and green plaid shirt, beige pants, black socks, and dark moccasins. The investigation into Joseph Consentino's disappearance began promptly after he was reported missing. His family, friends, and coworkers were all interviewed, and they consistently portrayed him as a happy man with no known troubles. He was known to be a dedicated family man who kept in regular contact with his loved ones and did not use drugs, drink alcohol, or gamble. Ten days after he was last seen, on July 27, 1994, his car was discovered abandoned on Mosholu Parkway in the Bronx. The vehicle, however, offered no clues as to his whereabouts or what might have happened to him. Despite extensive searches and police investigations, no evidence of foul play was immediately apparent, and his case eventually went cold. The mysterious disappearance of Joseph Consentino has left his family searching for answers for decades. He left behind three children from previous relationships and his pregnant wife. In 1997, three years after he vanished, Joseph Consentino was declared legally dead. Despite the passage of time, his case remains open. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are perplexing; an established family man and dedicated worker seemingly vanished without a trace after receiving a late-night page. The discovery of his abandoned car is the last known piece of physical evidence in a case that has been fraught with unanswered questions.
