On May 24, 1994, Sandra "Sandy" Sollie, a 38-year-old woman, vanished from Macedon, New York. At seven months pregnant, she was eagerly anticipating the birth of her son, whom she had already named Brandon Michael. She was last seen in the afternoon at the Ames Plaza on Route 31. It wasn't until nearly two weeks later, on June 5, after she failed to pay her rent, that she was officially reported missing. When authorities arrived at her duplex, they found her Honda parked in the driveway and the door locked. Inside, there were no signs of a struggle; her clothes were in the closet and her dog's food dish was full, yet Sandra and her black poodle, Jessie, were gone. The initial stages of the investigation uncovered few, yet puzzling, clues. Several days after she was reported missing, Sandra's purse, along with her dog's collar, leash, and tags, were discovered in a dumpster behind a car wash in Penfield, New York. Her wallet was later found in Rochester. It came to light that her credit cards had been used to purchase over a thousand dollars worth of merchandise in the Rochester area. Police tracked down the four individuals who had used the cards, but they claimed to have gotten them from a young boy who found the wallet on the street. Investigators ultimately determined these individuals were not connected to her disappearance. Friends of Sandra reported that she had planned to meet her ex-husband, Ralph Sollie Jr., on the day she went missing, claiming he was the father of her unborn child despite his having remarried. He was questioned by authorities but denied any involvement and declined to take a lie detector test. Years have turned into decades, and the disappearance of Sandra Sollie remains an unsolved cold case. A private investigator has worked on the case pro-bono for many years, continuing to search for answers for Sandra's family. Her family and friends believe that foul play was involved, as it was highly uncharacteristic of her to leave without contacting them. Investigators theorize she may have left her home willingly with someone she knew and trusted. The case was unfortunately overshadowed in its early days by the disappearance of a young child in a nearby town, which drew significant media and police attention. Despite occasional tips and a search of property previously owned by her ex-husband in 2016, no significant leads have emerged to resolve the mystery of what happened to the expectant mother and her unborn son. The New York State Police continue to ask the public for any information regarding Sandra's whereabouts, as her loved ones still hope for closure.
