In the late summer of 2006, 21-year-old Clinton "Clint" Devon Nelson was seeking a fresh start. Having moved to Haughton, Louisiana, from South Dakota just six months prior to connect with his biological father, Clinton was working on an oil rig and navigating the complexities of his new life. On the evening of September 1, 2006, Clinton left a friend's party in Princeton, a small community in Bossier Parish. He was last seen at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Ward Lane and Highway 80. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a black "ECKO" t-shirt, blue jeans, a black knit cap, and new white "DC" athletic shoes with red trim. He also had his wallet, cell phone, and glasses with round silver wire frames. After he was last seen, there was no further activity on his phone. The circumstances surrounding Clinton's disappearance are clouded with uncertainty. Accounts from those at the party vary; some reported he ran into the woods, while others suggested he may have left with someone else from the gathering. His family was immediately concerned, stating it was highly uncharacteristic of him to be out of contact. A few months after he vanished, a significant life event he was reportedly excited about occurred—the birth of his son, who was conceived before Clinton moved to Louisiana. This, coupled with the fact that he left behind his last paycheck, leads his family to believe he did not leave voluntarily. Adding another layer to the investigation, Clinton had a pending court date for drug-related charges, and when he failed to appear, a warrant was issued for his arrest. Years have passed since Clinton Nelson was last seen, but the search for answers continues. His mother has been a tireless advocate, frequently traveling from her home in South Dakota to Louisiana to raise awareness and keep his case in the public eye. The investigation has explored various theories, including the possibility of foul play, a drug overdose with a subsequent cover-up, or that he was robbed for the cash he was reportedly carrying. Despite extensive searches by law enforcement, including a five-mile grid search and following up on tips about possible remains, no trace of Clinton has been found. His case remains an active and unsolved missing person investigation with the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office. A substantial reward is being offered for information that could lead to his whereabouts. The overarching sentiment from both his family and investigators is that someone holds the key to what happened that night, a secret that could finally bring peace to a family that has waited for answers for nearly two decades.
