Simone Ridinger, a 17-year-old from Natick, Massachusetts, was last seen on September 2, 1977. After finishing her shift as a waitress at the Rainbow Restaurant, she planned to hitchhike to Cape Cod to meet her family at their vacation spot in Martha's Vineyard for Labor Day weekend. However, Simone never arrived, and her family assumed she had changed her plans. It wasn't until they returned home on September 11 that they realized she was missing and reported it to the police.
