Joan Risch, a 30-year-old homemaker and mother of two, disappeared from her home in Lincoln, Massachusetts, on October 24, 1961, under mysterious and unsettling circumstances. That morning, she completed routine activities, including a trip to the dentist with her daughter. After returning home for lunch, she left her two-year-old son in his crib for a nap and her four-year-old daughter playing outside with a neighbor. By the afternoon, she vanished.
