On the morning of Saturday, August 24, 2002, 71-year-old Shirley McKeown was seen leaving her residence in Kansas City, Missouri. It was around 9:30 a.m. when she departed, intending to drive to her daughter's house, which was only about seven miles away. Shirley was actively helping her daughter with the remodeling of her new home and had arranged to supervise painters that morning.
