In the winter of 2009, a heart-wrenching story began to unfold in Kansas City, Missouri, with the disappearance of 35-year-old Renee Pernice. A dedicated nurse and nursing instructor at St. Luke's Hospital, Renee was a mother to two young sons and a stepdaughter.
