Renee Pernice, a 35-year-old nurse and mother of three, was last seen on January 2, 2009, in Kansas City, Missouri. She had recently separated from her husband, Shon Pernice, who was a firefighter and former military medic. The couple had a troubled marriage and were in the process of divorce at the time of Renee's disappearance. On the day she vanished, she had reportedly told her mother she would be spending the day organizing her house, but after that, no one heard from her again.
