On May 1, 1947, 8-year-old Georgia Jean Weckler disappeared near her family's farm in rural Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. After school that day, a neighbor dropped her off at the entrance of her family's half-mile-long driveway. Georgia was last seen collecting mail from the family’s mailbox and starting her walk home. She had mentioned wanting to pick flowers for a May Day basket, but she never made it to the house, and her disappearance triggered an immediate and extensive search.
