Valarie Lorraine Cuccia, a 20-year-old college student, went missing on May 4, 1974, in Brooklyn, New York. That evening, she and a friend hitchhiked from PS 211 Park to the Banana Fish nightclub (now defunct) located at 96th Street and 3rd Avenue. After arriving, the two friends separated inside the club. Later, Valarie’s friend saw her speaking with two unidentified white men described as "hard looking." At around 9:00 p.m., she was last seen getting into a blue car with
Massachusetts license plates. It is believed that Valarie may have been forced into the vehicle.
At the time of her disappearance, Valarie was attending the City College of New York and lived with her parents in the Canarsie neighborhood. Her family described her as a responsible person with no serious boyfriends, and she had left her guitars and personal belongings behind at home. Authorities suspect that she may have been taken against her will to Massachusetts, but no trace of her has been found since that night.
