Equilla Lynn Hodrick, aged 8, disappeared on August 12, 1985, from the Bronx, New York. On that day, she was last seen running after an ice cream truck near her home on Briggs Avenue. Later, a family member reportedly saw her playing video games at a nearby arcade, but she never returned home. Her mother, who was heavily pregnant at the time, grew concerned and contacted authorities when Equilla didn’t come back.
A massive search was launched, including the use of bloodhounds that tracked her scent to Webster Avenue near the Metro-North train tracks. However, no further evidence or leads were uncovered, and her case went cold. Equilla is described as being 4'11" tall, weighing 80 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. She had distinctive features, including scars near her right eye and cheek, a gap between her front teeth, and she wore glasses.
Her case, classified as a non-family abduction, remains unsolved to this day. In recent years, it was reopened by the NYPD’s cold case unit, though no new developments have been publicly reported.
