In the late hours of September 19, 2018, 25-year-old Kassandra Ramirez was last seen leaving her cousin's home on Melrose Avenue in the Bronx, New York. Surveillance footage captured her at approximately 11:40 p.m. helping an elderly woman with her groceries before she turned onto Melrose Avenue and East 161 Street. At the time of her disappearance, the young mother was reportedly wearing blue jeans, a white blouse, a grey hoodie or black leather jacket, and black sneakers. Kassandra, a Hispanic female with brown hair and brown eyes, stood between 5'2" and 5'3" and weighed between 100 and 130 pounds. She had several distinguishing tattoos, including the name "Jayden Isaiah" on the inside of her wrist, a Pisces sign on her hip, and various scars. Ramirez had told her cousin she was going to meet her ex-boyfriend, who was supposed to give her money for her son's upcoming birthday. She never returned. Concern for her well-being grew when she failed to show up for her son's sixth birthday a week later. Her mother, who had been in contact with her just days before, filed a missing person report with the New York Police Department on September 22, 2018, after her attempts to reach Kassandra went unanswered. At the time she went missing, Kassandra did not have her passport, driver's license, or credit cards with her, but she did have her iPhone. The investigation into Kassandra Ramirez's disappearance has been fraught with troubling details and unanswered questions. Her ex-boyfriend, identified as a person of interest, provided conflicting accounts of that night, at one point claiming she never arrived for their meeting and at another stating he dropped her off at a train station. Authorities have not been able to verify his claims. Adding another layer of complexity to the case, it was reported that just a week before she vanished, Kassandra had testified before a grand jury regarding a rape allegation. The case against the accused was ultimately dropped after her disappearance. Foul play is suspected in her case, which remains unsolved. The circumstances surrounding her disappearance point to a deeply concerning situation, leaving her family desperate for answers and closure.
