Princess Perez, a 2-year-old girl from the Bronx, New York, was last seen on June 15, 1996. Her disappearance is surrounded by deeply concerning circumstances. Princess and her two older sisters had previously been placed in foster care due to neglect, but were returned to their parents in January 1996. Shortly after, child welfare officials were again investigating the family, reporting signs of abuse by April of that year.
At the time of her disappearance, Princess was last seen in the company of her father, Antonio Perez. When child welfare officials returned in August 1996, her mother, Karen Perez, claimed Princess was staying with relatives in California, a story that was not verified at the time. It wasn't until 1998 that Karen told a relative Antonio had killed Princess and disposed of her body. Antonio, when questioned, claimed the child died of natural causes, and he had dumped her body in New York City. Despite leading authorities to several locations, Princess's remains were never found.
