On October 4, 1988, 11-year-old Annette Sagers disappeared from her bus stop in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. Annette was last seen around 7:00 a.m., waiting for her school bus with her dog near the Mount Holly Plantation, where she lived with her stepfather and two younger brothers. When the bus arrived about 20 minutes later, Annette was gone, but her dog remained at the bus stop. A note was later found at the scene, purportedly written by Annette, stating, "Dad, Mom came back.
