Marco Antonio Cadenas, a 9-year-old boy, was last seen on May 11, 1994, in Miami, Florida. He had left his family's home, which was located in a trailer park in the northwest part of the city. The events leading up to his disappearance stemmed from a family dispute. Marco had become upset after witnessing his mother hit his stepfather during an argument. Following the altercation, his mother threatened to punish him for not taking a shower, prompting Marco to leave the house.
Before leaving, Marco wrote a note stating, "I'm leaving you because you hit my daddy." This was the last communication he had with his family.
At the time, Marco was described as a biracial (Black and Hispanic) male, standing 4'7" tall and weighing 70 pounds. He had black hair and brown eyes, along with several distinguishing marks, including an appendectomy scar, a scar on his left ankle, and a scratch on his cheek. When he left, he was wearing a red t-shirt, jeans, and a diamond earring in his left ear but had no socks or shoes.
Marco had previously run away from home and had just recently returned when he disappeared again. Authorities have suggested that he might have assumed a different identity, and a dependency pick-up order was issued for him by Florida law enforcement.
