Michelle Lois Prasek, a 12-year-old girl from Spring, Texas, was last seen by her mother on the morning of December 19, 1997. That day, Michelle was scheduled to board her school bus for Knox Junior School in The Woodlands. However, it remains unclear whether she ever reached the school grounds. Although some friends reported seeing her that morning, she did not attend classes.
At the time of her disappearance, Michelle was wearing a tan Calvin Klein t-shirt, jeans, and Nike sneakers.
Several of her belongings, including a green sleeping bag, a handmade quilt, and her orange tabby cat, were missing from her home, raising suspicions that she may have planned to leave.
Despite not having a history of running away, Michelle had expressed interest in traveling to the Conroe area. Family tensions might have played a role, as she had been in counseling to cope with issues related to her parents' divorce. There is speculation that foul play was involved, especially considering that a family acquaintance, Marc Seguin, who had dated Michelle's mother, became a person of interest. Seguin failed a polygraph test related to the case and was later convicted on unrelated charges of indecency with a child.
