Carol Sue Skidmore, 26, was last seen on April 9, 1977, in Rossville, Georgia, just across the Tennessee border. She had traveled from Texas with her husband, James Ronald Skidmore, and her five-year-old son, Lynn Mahaffey, to visit James's parents in an effort to work on their marriage. The family was last heard from when Carol called her parents, indicating uncertainty about when she would return home. Shortly after, all three of them disappeared.
