Krislyn Gibson, a 35-year-old woman from Houston, Texas, was last seen in Austin on April 2, 2016. She had traveled to Austin with her friend Sidney Taylor to attend the Urban Music Festival. The pair was last spotted leaving a nightclub called The Landing Strip around 2 a.m. with a man named Harvey "Hootie" Cyphers, a friend of Taylor. The following day, neither Gibson nor Taylor returned to their friend’s house, and both were reported missing shortly after.
Gibson's car was discovered two days later, abandoned in Houston over 160 miles away from where they were last seen. Inside the car, investigators found her purse and traces of blood in the vehicle, which raised immediate concerns about foul play. More alarming evidence was found at Cyphers’ residence in Austin, where authorities discovered blood and signs of a violent crime. Despite multiple searches and the investigation, both Gibson and Taylor remain missing, although authorities now presume them to be dead.
In 2019, Cyphers was charged with tampering with evidence, including human remains, after investigators uncovered further details linking him to their disappearances. In 2020, he was formally charged with their murders, although neither body has been recovered to date. Gibson, a dedicated mother of an eight-year-old son, was known to be highly responsible, making her sudden disappearance all the more suspicious.
