Sean Patrick Friel, 28 years old, was last seen on March 20, 2004, after checking out of a Marriott hotel in Solana Beach, California. Friel had been preparing to move to Los Angeles for a new job as a computer programmer. Described as a mild-mannered and calm individual, Friel had attended Zen and Buddhist retreats prior to his disappearance, leading some to speculate that he may have deliberately vanished to simplify his life.
