Roderick Shade, a 44-year-old from Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, disappeared on September 12, 2005, while on a fishing trip in Port Bay, New York. He was an experienced fisherman and had spent the weekend in the area with his fiancée. She left for work, but Shade decided to stay an extra day to fish. He was last known to have launched his 25-foot Bayliner motorboat around 4:00 p.m. and spoke to friends via marine radio at 8:00 p.m. later that evening.
