Jafet "Elijah" Jemmott, a 15-year-old student at Midwood High School, was last seen on November 28, 2025, leaving his residence on Burchell Avenue in Arverne, Queens, New York, at approximately 6:00 a.m. Home security footage recorded him leaving the house at that time. His departure followed an argument with his father the previous night concerning his desire to go shopping. Jafet had expressed plans to visit a thrift store in Brooklyn before meeting friends at the Kings Plaza mall.

Authorities and his family believe he may have boarded a Q52 bus shortly after leaving his home. An app used by his parents indicated that his phone had only 5% battery life remaining when he left. The last known location tracked by his phone was the Cross Bay Bridge before the device lost power. His family later learned from his friends that he was supposed to meet them at the Kings Plaza Mall on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn that morning, but he never arrived. Two hours before he left home, Jafet had received messages on WhatsApp, though the content of those messages is unknown to his family.

Jafet's family describes him as a student with excellent grades in nearly every subject who enjoys playing video games. He had never disappeared from home before this incident. Jafet is described as a Black and Hispanic male, approximately 5'6" to 5'7" tall and weighing around 130 to 140 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He wears black glasses and was last seen wearing a black sweater or hoodie, a white t-shirt, black pants, and white sneakers. He may also go by the name of Elijah and speaks both English and Spanish. The New York City Police Department is seeking public assistance in locating him.
