Richard Barnett Rinehart, aged 51, was last seen on June 17, 1985, in Austin, Texas. He went missing under suspicious circumstances, and his vehicle was found abandoned later that day in Austin. Rinehart, who had a broken toe and pins in his ankle at the time, also had a scar on his head and back injuries that caused his body frame to bend slightly forward.
