David Bruce Rea, a 27-year-old man from Lake Leelanau, Michigan, disappeared on December 2, 1985. He was last seen walking away from his residence in Leelanau County, dressed in a green nylon jacket, corduroy jeans, leather boots, and carrying a green backpack. Described as 5'9" to 5'10" tall and weighing between 140 and 150 pounds, Rea was nearsighted and wore glasses at the time of his disappearance. He had brown hair and brown eyes and was known to go by his middle name, Bruce.
