David Ronnal Provost, a 20-year-old civilian merchant seaman, was last seen on August 21, 2002, after leaving the USNS *Bold* in San Diego, California. Provost reportedly intended to visit Tijuana, Mexico, but did not return to his ship the next day, missing his scheduled departure. He has not been seen or heard from since. His disappearance was not reported until August 23, 2002, leading to concerns about his whereabouts.
