Maurice P. Kneifl, a 58-year-old man from Sioux City, Iowa, was last seen on February 14, 1983. He left his girlfriend's home at around 9:30 p.m. driving his dark brown 1981 Cadillac Fleetwood. When he failed to pick her up for work the next morning, as planned, he was reported missing two days later by his girlfriend and her daughter.
Maurice was a respected local businessman and former mayor of Hartington, Nebraska.
At the time of his disappearance, he owned a dry cleaning business. He had also been preparing to testify against his son-in-law, Delbert Beauchene, who had a criminal history. Maurice believed that his testimony could keep Delbert in prison for a long time. However, Maurice disappeared before he could give this testimony, raising suspicions about the involvement of foul play.
His Cadillac and Maurice himself have never been found. Given the circumstances, authorities suspect that he may have been taken against his will and potentially met with foul play. Despite ongoing investigations, Maurice’s case remains unsolved.Last Seen: Feb 14, 1983
