Thomas "Myles" Dougherty, a 45-year-old WWII veteran, was last seen on January 12, 1961, after leaving the Metropolitan Café in Sioux City, Iowa. Dougherty, who had lost both hands during the war and used prosthetic hooks, disappeared along with his specially outfitted green 1954 Ford Tudor. He was last spotted on Lower Fourth Street in Sioux City. Despite extensive searches, including aerial sweeps and dragging the river, neither Dougherty nor his vehicle was ever found.
