Anna and the remaining man then went for a drive.
During this time, Anna made a call to her employer at a fast-food restaurant to let them know she would not be coming in for her shift that day. This phone call would be one of the last known communications from her.
The man Anna was last seen with told police that he dropped her off at a convenience store at the intersection of South Park Avenue and East Ajo Way at approximately 10:00 a.m. on August 10th. However, later that same day, a woman discovered Anna's purse on the side of the road near West Ajo Way and South Comanche Road, about fifteen miles west of downtown Tucson. The purse still contained a small amount of cash. Anna was never heard from or seen again. At the time of her disappearance, she was described as a Hispanic female with black hair and brown eyes. She had several distinguishing marks, including a scar on her right knee from a bullet wound and scars on the inside of her wrist and elbow. She was last seen wearing either a floral-print dress or a flowered shirt with blue jeans, a silver-colored bracelet, and rings with turquoise.
