Steven Wycoff, a 66-year-old resident of Waikoloa, Hawaii, was reported missing on June 27, 2013, after his kayak was found adrift off the coast of Kawaihae Harbor. Wycoff, a regular fisherman in the area, had gone fishing early that morning. His kayak was discovered unmanned around 10:50 a.m., with his fishing gear and cooler still aboard, roughly 50 yards offshore. Despite favorable weather conditions, Wycoff was nowhere to be found.
