Oscar Elvin Moe, a 78-year-old man from the Keene-Charlson area of North Dakota, disappeared on March 29, 1991. That day, he had driven his wife to the hospital in Watford City and was last seen leaving the facility. However, instead of returning home, it appears he became disoriented. There were reports of sightings of Oscar later that day in areas west of Watford City, including Alexander and Dore, where witnesses said he had asked for directions.
Six days later, on April 4, 1991, his car was found stuck in the mud near Trenton Lake, southwest of Williston, North Dakota. Footprints were discovered leading away from the car, but they disappeared into swampy terrain, and despite extensive search efforts involving both air and ground teams, no further trace of Oscar was found.
Oscar, who was described as sometimes forgetful and potentially disoriented, was never located. His case remains unsolved, and his family continues to wonder what became of him. A memorial marker in his honor at a local cemetery bears the inscription "Lost at Trenton Lake".
