In the winter of 2009, a 27-year-old mother named Elizabeth Dawn Land was trying to build a new life in Flint, Michigan. Having moved back in with her parents about five months prior, she was actively seeking employment in the area. On the evening of February 26, 2009, Elizabeth left her residence on Mackin Road, telling her family she was going to meet a friend at a local bar situated at the intersection of Chevrolet Road and Flushing Road.
