Carlos Sofien Melgarejo-Nabli, a 20-month-old boy, was last seen on June 23, 2011, in San Diego, California. He was abducted by his non-custodial mother, Imen Nabli. Imen had told Carlos' father that her grandmother was terminally ill, convincing him to allow her to take Carlos to Germany for two weeks. However, after traveling to Germany, Imen took Carlos to Tunisia, and all contact with Carlos' father, including through email and phone, was severed.
Carlos, who was born in New Zealand and holds German citizenship, may still be in Tunisia or possibly in Belgium or another European country. Despite extensive efforts, neither he nor his mother have been located. Imen Nabli, who was 33 at the time of the abduction, remains a fugitive.
