Summary based on the NamUs case record (MP23346) and 11 other sources
Roberta Rene Cable, a 41-year-old woman from Clearwater, Florida, was last seen on December 14, 2013, at her residence in the 1700 block of Owen Drive. She was scheduled to begin a new job at a restaurant on December 16 but failed to appear for her first shift, raising concerns among her friends and family. A friend reported her missing in January 2014 after weeks of unsuccessful contact attempts.

At the time of her disappearance, Cable was living with her roommate, Jerry Gaston. When questioned by authorities, Gaston claimed that Cable had moved out to live with relatives. However, her out-of-state family had not heard from her, which was unusual, especially during the holiday season when she typically reached out. Investigators found Gaston's statements inconsistent, and he eventually ceased cooperating with the investigation.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office classified Cable's disappearance as suspicious, with Gaston emerging as the primary suspect. In July 2015, detectives executed a search warrant at the Owen Drive residence, recovering unspecified evidence related to the case. They also searched a property in Inverness, Florida, owned by Gaston, but no significant findings were reported.

In January 2016, Gaston died of natural causes at Bay Pines VA Hospital. Despite his death, the investigation into Cable's disappearance remains active. Authorities continue to seek information that could provide closure to her family and friends. Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office at 727-582-6200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
