Jayme Lynn Engstrom, a 22-year-old woman from Clearwater, Florida, disappeared under mysterious circumstances on February 20, 1994. She was last seen at approximately 8:43 p.m. in the 1300 block of Cleveland Street, when Clearwater police stopped her for walking in the middle of the road while carrying an open container of alcohol. Engstrom, a mother of three children, had a troubled life marked by addiction and run-ins with the law. Prior to her disappearance, she frequently contacted her family by phone but ceased communication after January 1994. Her mother, Vicki Lynn Engstrom, did not report her missing until December 1995, nearly two years later.
Engstrom had a criminal history, including arrests for prostitution and drug-related offenses, in Florida, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. She had connections to McKeesport and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as well as West Springfield, Massachusetts.
Around the time of her disappearance, Clearwater saw a rise in violence against local women engaged in prostitution. Authorities believe Engstrom may have been the victim of a serial killer targeting sex workers in the area, although no concrete evidence links her to a specific suspect. Several Clearwater prostitutes were murdered during that period, heightening suspicions of foul play in her case.
Despite extensive efforts by investigators, Engstrom's fate remains unknown. Her criminal record stopped abruptly in early 1994, coinciding with the time she vanished.
