In the early spring of 1963, a 20-year-old U.S. Navy sailor named Jerry "Pee Wee" Francis Liberty was on leave from the St. Albans Naval Hospital in Long Island. He was in the South Glens Falls, New York area, receiving treatment for a hand injury. On March 7th, 1963, his leave came to an end, and he began his journey to report back to the hospital. Dressed in his Naval uniform, which was appropriate for the upstate New York climate in March, Jerry was last seen. He was spotted hitchhiking around noon on the bridge that spans the Hudson River, connecting Glens Falls and South Glens Falls. He carried with him no extra clothing or personal belongings and had only a small amount of cash. Jerry Liberty was described as a white male, between 5'5" and 5'9" tall, and weighing between 130 and 150 pounds. He had brown hair and brown eyes. Distinguishing features included a couple of non-descript tattoos on his left forearm and near his inner elbow joint. When he was last seen, he was wearing his Naval uniform. The young sailor, who was just starting his adult life, seemingly vanished without a trace from the bridge that day. He never arrived at the St. Albans Naval Hospital, and no one has reported seeing or hearing from him since. The case of Jerry Liberty's disappearance is being handled by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). For decades, the circumstances surrounding his disappearance have remained a mystery. He was a young man on his way back to his duty station, a common enough occurrence, yet his journey ended unexpectedly. The lack of any personal items or significant funds with him at the time suggests he wasn't planning to disappear. The case is an enduring mystery, a story of a young sailor who was last seen on a bridge and then was gone, leaving behind unanswered questions.
