Jerry Francis Liberty, a 20-year-old sailor, was last seen on March 7, 1963, in South Glens Falls, New York. At the time, he was on leave from St. Albans Naval Hospital in Long Island, where he was receiving treatment for an injured hand. He was reportedly hitchhiking on the Glens Falls/South Glens Falls bridge over the Hudson River around noon that day, attempting to return to the hospital. Jerry had minimal cash, no extra clothing, and few personal items with him at the time.
