John Clyde Perrin, a 25-year-old recent Stanford Law School graduate, was last seen on June 23, 1970, in Menlo Park, California. Perrin, known for being a conscientious objector to the Vietnam War, had been convicted for refusing induction into the armed forces, and his case was under appeal at the time of his disappearance. His conviction was ultimately upheld weeks after he went missing.
On June 24, 1970, a man matching Perrin's description was rescued from the San Francisco Bay and gave the name "David Herrin." This man was taken to a hospital, received clean clothing, and then disappeared without a trace. Although his identity was never confirmed, Perrin’s family believes the rescued man was John.
Perrin had a distinguishing scar on his heel from a motorcycle accident and was described as standing 5'11" tall with sandy blonde hair and brown eyes. His case remains unsolved, and despite years passing, his family continues to search for answers. Perrin would no longer face legal charges if he resurfaced today.
