Harding left behind essential items, including his phone and HIV medication, which he needed daily, taking only his wallet and keys.
Gregory had been dealing with significant depression and financial difficulties prior to his disappearance, and those close to him noted that he had withdrawn from social activities, stopped taking care of himself, and had become reclusive. While there were no clear signs that he intended to harm himself, his mental state and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance have left many unanswered questions. Some speculated that he might have visited Buena Vista Park, a known meeting place for casual encounters, but it remains unclear whether this was part of his routine at the time.
