On a September day in 1973, in the vast wilderness of Alaska, 36-year-old James Donald Monroe vanished. He was on a hunting trip with companions near mile 25, northeast of Homer, in the expansive Anchor River Valley. An experienced outdoorsman, James, also known as Jim Monroe or James Donald Moore, became separated from his party, a scenario that unfortunately can happen in the dense and disorienting Alaskan terrain.
