On May 24, 1980, 10-year-old Toni Schiess disappeared while on a fishing trip with her father, Laddie Schiess, and family friends Larry Hill and his son, Rex, at Palisades Reservoir in Bonneville County, Idaho. They were on a 14-foot aluminum boat when it capsized about 100 yards from shore due to rough water and poor weather conditions. The water temperature was between 47 and 51 degrees, making survival difficult.
