Mildred Johnson, a 31-year-old mother of four, was last seen in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in 1954. She was married to Harry Johnson, a pipe worker, and their relationship was reportedly troubled due to Harry's heavy drinking and violent behavior. Mildred had left him in April of that year after suffering physical abuse and briefly relocated to Spokane, Washington.
She returned to Coeur d'Alene around May 1954, but after visiting her son for his birthday, she vanished and was never heard from again.
Although her disappearance was not immediately reported as suspicious, decades later, a disturbing revelation surfaced. In 2007, a former neighbor came forward with a long-held secret. The neighbor claimed that in 1954, they had witnessed Harry carrying what looked like a rolled-up rug or blanket from the house, with what appeared to be a human arm falling into view. The neighbor remained silent at the time due to threats from Harry, but the disclosure reignited interest in the case.
Though her husband was once called to identify a body found in a river, which he claimed was not Mildred, no concrete evidence has ever surfaced to confirm her fate.
