Kieran Murphy, a 58-year-old resident of San Francisco, was last seen on December 15, 2001. He and his estranged wife, Ornaith Murphy, had been going through a difficult divorce, and on the day of his disappearance, they were supposed to meet to discuss legal matters. Kieran, a mathematician employed by the city of San Francisco, was last seen near the Oakland Marina at Jack London Square, where Ornaith's boat, the *Sola III*, was berthed.
