On August 6, 1972, 18-year-old James Colin Egan, who went by his middle name Colin, made a phone call to his family in Mequon, Wisconsin, from San Francisco, California. During the call, he informed them of his plans to hitchhike to Denver, Colorado, where he would then catch a flight home. This was the last time his family ever heard from him. Egan was last heard from called he his family in Mequon, Wisconsin on August 6, 1972. He was in San Francisco, California at the time and told them he would hitchhike to Denver, Colorado and catch a flight home to Wisconsin within the next week. He never arrived home and has never been heard from again. Few details are available in his case. His father died in 1999, and in the obituary it was noted that Egan preceded him in death. Wisconsin authorities are investigating.
