On August 6, 1972, 18-year-old James Colin Egan, who went by his middle name Colin, made a phone call to his family in Mequon, Wisconsin, from San Francisco, California. During the call, he informed them of his plans to hitchhike to Denver, Colorado, where he would then catch a flight home. This was the last time his family ever heard from him. Egan never arrived in Denver and has not been seen or heard from since.
