On a late September day in 1960, a group of five individuals set out on a boat trip from Nulato, a small village on the banks of the Yukon River in Alaska. Among them was 48-year-old Leo Demoski, Jr., a man of American Indian/Alaska Native descent. He was accompanied by Bertha Demoski, aged 38, Claude Demoski, 45, Emmett Nollner, 28, and Harry Pitka, who was 39. Their destination was the village of Ruby, another small community situated further up the river. The group was last seen on September 25, 1960, as they embarked on their journey by boat. The circumstances surrounding the group's disappearance remain shrouded in mystery, with very little information available to cast light on their fate. The journey from Nulato to Ruby by boat would have taken them through a remote and unforgiving stretch of the Yukon River, a waterway known for its powerful currents and unpredictable nature.
