James Edwin Mitchum Jr., a 58-year-old man from Saint Stephen, South Carolina, disappeared on October 25, 2018, while on a private flight to the Bahamas. Mitchum and four others were aboard a Piper PA-31 aircraft that departed from Andrews, South Carolina. During the flight, the pilot radioed an emergency, stating they were descending before losing contact with air traffic control.
