Mack Webb, age 44, went missing on August 2, 1998, while on a solo camping trip in the Sumter National Forest near Westminster, South Carolina. Webb, a former Marine and Vietnam veteran, had set up camp several days before his disappearance, and his campsite was later found by authorities, appearing to have been abandoned for several days. Although there were slits found in his tent, it was unclear whether they were made intentionally or due to vandalism.
