On April 28, 2016, the decomposed body of a male, identified as Joseph E. Frese, was found in his residence in El Paso, Texas. The discovery marked the beginning of a case without immediate answers, as efforts to locate any family or next of kin were initially met with silence. Despite the involvement of the El Paso Police Department, who worked alongside the El Paso County Medical Examiners Office, no relatives or acquaintances could be traced to claim Joseph E. Frese's remains.
