An escalating feud between two women in Dellwood, a suburb of St. Louis, culminated in the shooting death of Marketta Simpson, a 34-year-old female. The conflict with her alleged assailant, 32-year-old Sha'Miya Watts, had been intensifying for several days prior to the fatal incident.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, April 6, 2022, the dispute took a violent turn on Kroeger Avenue. At approximately 2 p.m., police received a 911 call about a shooting.
Arriving at the scene, officers found Marketta Simpson inside her vehicle with a gunshot wound to her stomach. She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
According to charging documents, multiple witnesses saw Sha'Miya Watts lean out of the backseat of a car and open fire on Simpson's vehicle. Later that evening, around 10 p.m., officers with the North County Police Cooperative located and arrested Watts in an unincorporated part of St. Louis County.
During police interviews, Watts reportedly admitted to firing into the car. Investigators concluded that the shooting was the result of the ongoing feud between the two women. Sha'Miya Watts was charged with second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon for shooting into a motor vehicle, and two counts of armed criminal action. She was held on a $250,000 cash-only bond.
