In the summer of 2022, a vibrant young man's life was cut tragically short in the Carondelet neighborhood of Saint Louis, Missouri. Tyrell Demond Bradley, a 21-year-old Black male known for his passion for music and his engaging personality, was fatally shot on August 12. He was a beloved son, brother, and friend to many in his community.
The incident unfolded around 11:45 a.m. in the 6100 block of Alaska Avenue, where a dispute reportedly erupted over missing drugs.
The altercation escalated to gunfire, resulting in the deaths of Tyrell and another young man, 19-year-old Marcus Calvin Jr. The violent encounter sent shockwaves through the neighborhood, leaving a void in the lives of the two victims' families and friends.
In the aftermath of the double homicide, law enforcement initiated an investigation that quickly led to the identification of suspects. Ivyon R. Houston, who was 20 years old at the time, was apprehended and faced serious charges, including two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action. A second suspect, 23-year-old Qwanzell Watkins, was also implicated in the crime. He was charged with two counts of second-degree murder and later turned himself in to the authorities. The community now awaits the progression of the legal proceedings, hopeful that justice will be served for the untimely deaths of Tyrell Bradley and Marcus Calvin Jr.
