In the early morning hours of June 2, 2024, a weekend in St. Louis was tragically marked by violence, culminating in the death of Lonnie Sansoucie, a 51-year-old White/Caucasian male from Branson, Missouri. The fatal incident unfolded around 4:30 a.m. in the Downtown West neighborhood, near the intersection of Washington Avenue and 16th Street. First responders discovered Sansoucie with a gunshot wound and transported him to a local hospital in critical condition.
Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries later that day.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Division promptly launched an investigation into the shooting. In the initial stages of the inquiry, detectives identified and questioned a person of interest who was also from the Branson area. The Branson Police Department collaborated with the St. Louis authorities in this part of the investigation. However, this lead did not immediately result in a breakthrough in the case.
As of early June 2024, no arrests had been made in connection with the homicide of Lonnie Sansoucie, and the police had not publicly identified any suspect or suspects. Remembered for his sense of humor and willingness to help others, he is survived by his recently graduated 18-year-old daughter, his mother, a sister, and three brothers.
