In the late autumn of 2022, the community of Joplin, Missouri, marked the passing of one of its residents, a 77-year-old man named Dean Peterson. A truck driver by trade, Mr. Peterson died on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, in the city he called home.
Official sources later confirmed the nature of his death. The Jasper County Coroner's office investigated the circumstances surrounding the passing of Mr. Peterson and two other individuals in separate incidents around the same time.
Following this investigation, it was determined that his death was the result of suicide.
In the wake of this determination, there was no criminal investigation into foul play, and consequently, no suspects were ever sought or identified. The case was closed without any arrests being made. His passing was noted in a death notice published in The Joplin Globe, which simply stated that a celebration of his life would be held at a later date.
