In the late summer of 1986, a dedicated public servant named Thomas Eric Gahl, a 38-year-old United States Probation Officer, met a tragic and violent end. On the morning of September 22nd, Gahl, a husband and father to two young sons, traveled to a residence in Indianapolis, within Marion County, Indiana.
